The benefits of using Crest Assoma Mag Drives at a glance

  • The AVF-C is a canned motor mag drive designed for maximum efficiency whilst having minimal environmental impact. With a IE5 equivalent motor efficiency, MEI (Minimum efficiency index) greater than 0.7 and an integrated variable frequency drive it is the smallest carbon emission chemical pump available on the market. After winning both BPMA's product of the year and environmental contribution of the year further cementing its role as a game-changer in sustainable pumping solutions.
  • The AVF-X is a superior efficiency range. With IE5 motor efficiency, variable frequency drive and MEI exceeding 0.7 it delivers optimal energy savings whilst delivering exceptional performance.
  • The AM range is made for exceptional efficiency in a small, compact design. Can handle temperatures up to 100°C. Comes in a choice of Polypropylene, PVDF or ETFE and has impeller diameter flexibility, where it can be trimmed to the exact duty for the best efficiency.
  • The AMXi range is built with a metallic outer-casing to help withstand both high and low temperatures (not susceptible to frost damage), it also handles high pressure and formidable corrosive applications with temperatures up to 110°C whilst being lined with corrosion resistant ETFE.
  • The AMA range thrives in high temperatures (up to 150°C), high pressures and highly corrosive applications. Its Patented dynamic buffer system absorbs vibration and shock from adverse operating conditions, increasing the mean time between servicing and reducing overall maintenance.
  • The AME range is a heavy duty design with a metallic armour and high purity PFA-lining ideal for handling high temperatures (up to 150°C) and for transferring high purity aggressive chemicals.

How do magnetic drive pumps work?

Magnetic drive pumps are centrifugal pumps which use a magnetic coupling to transmit power from the motor to the impeller. The drive magnet is mounted on the motor shaft that will connect by magnetic force to driven magnets contained within the pump. This type of pump is ideal for applications where leakage or contamination of the pumped fluid is a concern, as there is no mechanical seal or shaft seal to fail.

Understand MEI for pumps exceeding 0.7

Pumps are an essential part of many industries, which is why it is important that they operate as efficiently as possible. The minimum efficiency index (MEI) is a metric used to measure the efficiency of a pump.

avf-x-1MEI is particularly important for pumps exceeding 0.7 because it can help users save money on energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint.  Pumps which exceed 0.7 are typically larger and more powerful, & they use more energy than smaller pumps. Therefore, even a small increase in efficiency can result in significant energy savings. In addition, using a more efficient pump can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions which is an important consideration for many industries.

Best practices for maintaining a mag drive pump

  1. Check the pump regularly for signs of wear & tear.
  2. Ensure the pump is properly lubricated.
  3. Check the bearings for any signs of wear or damage.
  4. Ensure that the pump is properly aligned with the drive motor.
  5. Check the temperature of the pump & ensure it does not exceed the recommended levels.
  6. Ensure that the pump is running at the correct speed.
